Day 20-I'll gladly pay you tomorrow for an ice-cream today

He said: Exciting day! Spent part of the morning in Popeye's home town. Crossed the Mississippi and were on our way again. Welcome to the Ozarks 101. Guess what-more hills. It was a good day-found an ice cream stand and a shortcut all in the same day. Made it to Pilot Knob, Missouri, our fourth state. Illinois wasn't very welcoming when we got here from the Kentucky side so we took Welcome to Illinois picture on the way out of town. Maybe they like their Missouri neighbors better than their Kentucky neighbors. 75 miles.
She said: Rode ahead to Chester, Il. and waited for Paul, scoped out all the statues around town for all the photo ops you see below. We crossed the Mighty Mississippi into Missouri. Observations of the day-Missouri labels their state roads with letters, not numbers, most of the farms around here have a donkey or two keeping their horses and cows company, and it has gotten less steamy, Paul smiles at me when I ride by now that it is less steamy. Rode through the beginning of the Ozarks and into Pilot Knob, Mo. We went for a swim, did laundry, had dinner and are back at the motel working on the blog. Life is good.

Done with the third map

Welcome to Illinois (on the way out). We had some trouble working the timer on the camera-it took 3 shots to get this one.

No caption necessary

Had fun in the Popeye museum and store
This Whimpy likes hamburgers and ice-cream

Has anyone seen Sweet pea?

and especially Popeye. Building a new visitors center.

I think you need to get here faster!

Yeah, it stopped blinking-we're all set.

Missouri-The Show Me State-someone needs to show us how to set the timer on the camera!

  1. Evidently EVERYBODY wants to get out of Illinois --- look at the line of traffic! Have you started to grow those funny little knobs on the back of your elbows yet?

  2. It's looking great so far. Everything is going well here. Lola says hi too! I think I saw Dad's forearms swelling in Chester too. :)
