Day 22-Making lemonade in St.Louis

She said: Paul left Summersville about 7, and I went for a short bike ride, and a walk on the trail around the Community Center property. Chatted with the woman who runs the lodging and the community center, and a few of the other volunteers. Took off to meet Paul around 10 or so and caught up with him at about 59 miles. As I rode by he called out to me that his seat was broken. Stopped in Hartsville (about 1 mile down the road) and had lunch, went to the local hardware store to try and get something to fix the problem. No luck. After a ride to Springfield, Mo. we found out the stem of his seat had a broken part and a new one was needed. Thanks to the nice guys at A&B Cycle the part was located in St.Louis, so we took off for a 3 hour ride up here. That's where we are tonite. Trying to do the lemonade from lemons again....Paul said now we don't have to drive through here on our way home to see the Arch. Rode by there tonite after we got the bike fixed and will check it out in the daylight tomorrow. We were planning a rest day tomorrow anyway....so it will be back to Hartsville tomorrow and on the road again. It's very late, so he said will do his entry tomorrow.

The community center in Summersville, complete with skating rink.

Our home last night, pretty cute, huh? We were the door on the right.

  1. You broke the stem that holds the seat into the frame? Metal is pretty strong --- especially when rolled into a tube shape. Maybe you should pedal past a few of those ice cream stands.
